A 'lil something about me
Hey there! Thanks for checking out my website. My name is Kate Hoover and I recently finished my degree (a semester early) at Chapman University — I graduated magna cum laude with a major in Journalism and a minor in Graphic Design. I'm a passionate, well-rounded professional with a demonstrated history of working in the social and digital media, graphic design and journalism industries. I'm skilled in social and digital media marketing, graphic design, branding, communications, researching, reporting, writing, editing, management and photography. I'm Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and CMS savvy. I'm currently doing freelance graphic design and digital marketing work for Amy's Kitchen, as well as serving at Lagunitas Brewing Company at their original Petaluma taproom and beer sanctuary!
Some positions I've held in the past include digital marketing intern at Amy's Kitchen, social media marketing manager of Chapman's independent student newspaper, The Panther, digital media intern at Voice of OC, editor of Prowl Magazine, executive editor of Chapman's Her Campus chapter, intern at the North Bay Bohemian, intern at the Petaluma Argus-Courier and editor-in-chief of my high school newspaper, The Gaucho Gazette.
In addition to these things, I love getting outside: hiking, surfing, camping, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking and traveling, just to name a few favorites. I was a summer camp counselor for six years, managing kids ages 5-12 years old and leading activities such as canoeing, archery, hiking, singing camp songs, performing skits, making crafts and — my personal favorite — playing dodge ball. In spring 2018, I spent five months abroad in London, England, where I studied at City, University of London — all the while adventuring around the United Kingdom and Europe on the weekends and documenting it, probably to an annoying extent, on social media.
